George and I spent a day this past weekend in the city, doing everything from touristy spots to random places.

"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer."
George and I first went to TST to go to the history museum since it just opened back up. It was super cool and I feel like now I know a lot more about Hong Kong's history, especially in terms of the Opium Wars and British control. The museum itself was fairly small but the design and content were fun to walk around and explore. This is a wedding dress for a traditional HK wedding:

And here's a calendar:

Next we went to the Chung King Mansions, which is a sketchy mall that has amazing food--I've heard some locals call it "brown town" due to how much authentic Indian food is here. We walked around for a while, feeling like the only white people in the whole place, and I was absolutely loving this place! George let me pick the place, and I settled on Malaysian food. We ordered a ton of food for super cheap. George picked a mutton curry and I picked some Malaysian noodles, and we got a bunch of different breads. One of the breads was super thin but it looks HUGE in the picture since it was rolled up:

The spices and sauces on everything was delicious. We also grabbed some Indian dessert from a different shop and ate them later. We walked along the Avenue of Stars and finally went to the famous Bruce Lee statue! Turns out I've probably walked by it a lot and never noticed it since it's pretty lowkey and of course near a Starbucks😂 Of course we had to do a full-on photoshoot. We may or may not have interrupted some people's instagram lives haha.

The Avenue of Stars plays classical music out loud and is super relaxing. We enjoyed the desserts by the water and listened to the music. Felt like I was in a movie, everything was so perfect!

Next we took the Star Ferry over to Central and walked around a garden/park that's also a zoo.

Saw flamingos and so many other cool birds. The monkey exhibits were closed tho:(

Then we decided to go for a mini hike and walk to the Peak, which is where we went the first time we went to the city. It's comedy--last time the cab took us to the very top, when really it's only a 30ish minute walk up a suuuuper steep road😂 We walked up to the Peak and enjoyed the foggy/cloudy skyline, then walked on a new trail at the top, then came back down.

I love how any adventure with George always involves a lot of walking, one of my favorite things :')

By this time it was starting to get dark, so we walked past the Central Mid Level escalators (the longest outdoor covered escalator in the world) to get back to the ferry. The escalators are iconic in HK, even appearing in many movies.

But before we got on the ferry we decided it was the perfect time to ride the iconic ferris wheel!!

We took the ferry back over to TST for dinner, to a street called Kimberly Road. Millicent recommended we try to find a place to eat there since they have a bunch of Korean restaurants! WE FEASTED. It was my first time trying Korean bbq!! I loved it omgggg. Similar to hot pot, they serve you the raw meat and you cook it yourself over a little grill. George ordered ox tongue and I ordered beef--both were delicious! If you think ox tongue sounds weird, I barely gave it a second thought after some of the stuff I've been trying here (chicken feat, cow intestine, duck kidney, duck tongue). They served us unlimited lettuce, bean sprouts, cheese and corn, egg with kimchee, and other veggies. We didn't get to the restaurant until like 8:45 so they had to kick us out at 10 (because of covid, every place has to close at 10 now).

You already know we hit up McDonalds for that McFlurry after walking around post-dinner😂 All the guys love getting the oreo one when they're out for some reason.

This day was a mix of touristy stuff and adventure:) My kind of day!
It's wild thinking about how I'm in Hong Kong...when I stop and think about it, I'm always in awe at how many cool things we're able to do. It's wild!
xoxo
